Domain Flipping
No Comments
Well I mentioned in a couple of my posts how instead of just using the domain in plain font that I like to try and Jazz it up a bit to give perspective buyers an idea of what a domain could be used for and to give the perception that this really is a great domain to own…..at any cost hopefully.
So I thought I would give you a couple of examples of domain logos that I made for my auctions so you can decide for yourself whether the plain font version is better than the enhanced version.
Like this for example which do you think looks better:
ImproveFinances.com
or this

StockOptionProfit.com
or this

this:
DiscountCamerasOnline.com
or this:

Now to me I think the logos look better and give a more professional feel to the domains. These logos only took about 3 minutes each and I’m the first to admit that I suck using photoshop but little by little I am using it more and more and at the same time am learning how to use it.
With the logos I have been making they really are simple, I just get a image like the one of the people above and then simply write or position text over the image. I then use a fabulous script package that I purchased a few months ago and it basically ‘dresses’ up the text to make it look really cool. It really is at the push of a button, find a font I like then pick a color scheme and photoshop does the rest, brilliant isn’t it?
Now I was going to include the link to the text package I purchased as it was only like $20 but the site doesn’t seem to be up any longer but I will include a link if it ever does come online again.
Now I know the above 2 examples aren’t mindblowing examples of photoshop artistry but I’d be happy to make one for the first couple of people to ask for them, at no cost of course……just another chance for me to try and improve my pitiful photoshop skills.
Anyway that’s part of how I try and make my auctions stand out from the rest!

Domain Flipping

Here we go again! O.k I’ve just finished uploading another 7 domains that I can hopefully flip for a profit. Included in this lot of auctions are 5 domains that I found using methods found in one of the ebooks I purchased and another 2 using my own methods. The total for these 7 domains have cost me under $60 so that will be around my break even point. Also included is the domain that I purchased last week and was waiting for it to be transferred and I’m hoping this one will get a few decent bids as it cost me a couple of dollars more than the other domains but it has a stack of links pointing towards it and it even has a PR (page rank) of 3. These are very good factors when selling (or buying) domains.
I’ve also decided to enhance my listing for one of my domains at a cost of around $10. I’m hoping the extra exposure to this domain will cascade down to the other domains I have listed. Apart from that I keep everything pretty basic and don’t purchase any of the other options that Ebay have to offer.
Time wise I’m still spending too long getting these auctions running and I mean in terms of ROI. I could probably use the same amount of time creating another affiliate site which probably would generate more income but that’s not what it is about at the moment so I’ll just stick with it. Half the problem is that I’m mucking around with Photoshop trying to create nice images for the auction but I probably don’t need to. In one way I don’t mind because I want to become better at using photoshop and it only helps to increase my skill base. Mind you I can pretty much do a nice domain logo in a couple of minutes now so I am getting better.
Didn’t find any good domains to purchase today but i did find one through my own methods and I’m going to spend the next 5 days seeing if I can get a stack more domains as I’m probably only going to have enough time to run 2-3 more auctions before the month and this experiment end.
At this stage I have purchased 14 domains since the start of the month so it looks like I could get to purchasing 50 domains for the month ……. damn that seems like an awful lot….better warn the Mrs about the impending credit card statement!!

Domain Flipping

Well it all seemed to happen pretty quick, at first there were only 2 bids on the 6 domains but by the time the last auction had finished I had sold all 6 and only one of them was sold for less than the purchase price so I was really stoked with that. In fact after all was said in done I had DOUBLED MY MONEY!!
So I’m quite surprised and really happy with that effort and it’s inspired me even more so I will be launching a few more auctions tonight so they finish around the same time next week. In between I will be hunting down a few more domains and hopefully a few more bargains. At the end of this month I will release the week by week profit/loss for people to see.
With my next lot of auctions I’m going to try and systemise everything to make putting the auctions up faster so I spend less time doing it. With the first lot of auctions I spent quite a few hours setting everything up and re-familiarising myself with Ebay. I plan to make a nice template for my next lof of auctions and maybe even try a few designs things with photoshop to make it more appealing (I’m really a newbie at photoshop) which hopefully leads to higher bids.
On a sour note I’m still waiting for a domain that I purchased a week ago to be transferred to my account but hopefully it will be transferred soon. Anyway I’m off now to look for some more domains so I can hopefully make some more cash!
