Bum Marketing
No Comments
Well I haven’t really been updating this blog much because there isn’t really a lot to update. In review I started to promote a product via the bum marketing method one month ago. I picked a clickbank product to promote and then set up a blog, got my hoplink and then wrote a few articles and submitted them to one article directory.
It only took a couple of days before I had my first sale so that was pretty good although it proved to be the exception rather than the rule. As of writing this my blog is currently on the second page of Google for it’s keyword phrase and it’s recieving traffic although it’s not a heck of a lot but obviously enough to get a few sales.

I’ve only made 3 posts to the blog itself so I really haven’t had a lot to do with it but the good thing is that it’s still bringing in the odd sale every now and then so I’m happy, i don’t even know if I will touch that blog again although I might write a few more articles because that means more traffic which means the more chance of getting some more sales.
Also a week ago I decided that I would create another blog as I came across a new product that I thought would do well so I went about basically copying what I had done with the first blog. Although it’s not recieving alot of traffic it’s still getting some and that’s all that matters.

The Result?
Well after my exhaustive month of bum marketing…….o.k probably only about 2 days in total I finished off making just under $200 for the month which again isn’t too bad considering I haven’t done buggar all and one good thing is that over the last 2 days I have made 2 sales with the new blog and what’s even better is that I’ve made a sale a day for the last 4 days straight so things might be picking up. Another thing is that even if i don’t do anything more with these blogs, I’m still going to get the odd sale every now and then.
Now I have set my payment threshold to $250 for clickbank so once it passes that level they will send out my check and I am going to stick that money on my camera so I can pay it off quicker. Last months profits went into a lens for my camera but it was worth it as I’m having a ton of fun taking photos of the kids downg the stadium playing their sports. So this is what my camera looks like now with the new lens I purchased with last months profits.

Now there is one more lens that I wouldn’t mind buying off ebay but it’s gonna cost around $300 for it so as much as I would like to I think I’m going to have to wait until I’ve paid off a large chunk of the balance owing on my camera before I can think of getting it buy hey you have to have goals don’t you!
Actually here is a picture of my next goal, the Canon 85mm f/1.8 , it’s one step up from my 50mm lens that I got last month.

So that’s it for this month, hope you enjoyed and roll on July and my next idea!

Domain Flipping

So after a month I ask myself “can I make money flipping domains?” and the answer would be yes. Now take into account I’m only using the method that I got from a couple of guides and I know for a fact that there are other methods that you can make money from when flipping domains. In fact this is going to be like Mythbusters where they sometimes revisit myths that they have done. I too will be revisiting this method once I find out a bit more information (this includes buying a couple more guides that cost around $97 each) so I can put them to the test.
Now the method I used was simple and even a kid could follow along and do the same. Also keep in mind that I didn’t do this everyday, I only ran 4 groups of auctions and it really was only a part time thing. I had other commitments, family , job and other online projects so time wise I really didn’t spend a lot of time doing this which is good. This of course means that those of you who are looking just to make a bit of extra money and who are able to commit more time to it will in my opinion make a lot more money.
In total for the this project I only ended up purchasing 28 domains and I only spent $70 on my credit card for the month, the rest of the domains were paid for using profits from the first and subsequent auctions. So you don’t need a huge outlay to give this a go.
Will I continue to flip domains?
Yes, it’s easy and it’s fun. With the profits I made I was able to purchase some more marketing materials for other sites, pay for my hosting for all my sites and still have Paypal funds in my account.
So how much did I make?
After all was said and done I made about $180 profit which to some people is nothing (the ones rolling around on the floor laughing) but I guess it really depends on your financial situation. For me it’s handy to have that extra money in my Paypal account because as I’ve mentioned I can buy some more information products, pay to have articles written for me and use it for my other online ventures. So in saying that I will be running an auction at least once a month to see how much extra cash I can make because in todays world every little penny helps. Also a good chunk of the profits is going to help pay off my camera and I have seen a lens on Ebay that I want to buy!!
So what do my monthly profits buy?
I thought I would show you what each months profits could roughly buy using things that most people are familiar with so here it goes:
Well here in New Zealand I could buy around 20 Big Mac combos!
It would also fuel my car for about 3 weeks (2.00 a litre here!)
I could take the family out for dinner!
So if your looking to make a bit of extra cash and want to have a bit of fun doing it then Domain Flipping could be for you!!

Well nothing much happened on day 4 to report about because I was too busy and spent too much time looking for a lens for my new camera on Ebay. I found the lens that I want , now I just have to make some money so I can buy it without the Mrs throwing something at me! So I didn’t actually get any ‘Bum’ work done yesterday (day 4) and also the blog still had not recieved any visitors but I’m glad to say today that my articles got approved (5 of them) and at the time of this post (mid afternoon) that the blog has recieved 65 visitor and do you know what? I checked into my Clickbank account so I could see how many people had clicked through my blog to the affiliate product and 17 people had, so roughly that’s a 1 in 4 clickthrough rate which is pretty good……….but do you know what’s even better…………I HAD A SALE!!………..yep there was one commission payment sitting in my Clickbank account!!….that rocks!!
So after that good news I’m going to finish off the domain section then get back to work and write some more articles, make some more funnel sites and hopefully get some more commissions!!

Well not quite the last time but the last time for the month of May anyway. I recieved the PR3 domain into my account today so that went straight to Ebay with the other auctions and so I have 14 domains in total ready to make some money (hopefully!) There is a mix of domains up for sale and that includes some of the domains that I sold previously but the seller never ended up paying for them so I have relisted them. I actually have a couple more domains that are in my account that I forgot about but I will leave them for a later date.
Well tomorrow is the 1st June here in NZ so I will be posting the month of Junes idea then and I’ll get some of the groundwork done tonight in between watching the Super 14 finals and the replay of the NBA playoffs. Luckily I have Monday off work as it’s a public holiday over here so I should get off to a positive start with the next project although I don’t expect to see any profit for at least 2 weeks with this venture.
I will do a round up of Mays project once the last auction has run and then we will see if it was worth it all and my general thoughts on domain flipping.
For any rugby players out there, GO THE CRUSADERS!!
Catch you tomorrow!

Not much happening today with regards to purchasing any new domains, I’ve scoured through the normal channels today but haven’t found anything which is a bit dissapointing. Bear in mind I am only using 3 websites to find my domains but I know there are a ton of other sites out there that sell domains but I want to get get them as cheap as possible so that I can make a better ROI.
The feature listing that I purchased on one of the domains seems to be working as I already have a couple of bids on my auctions where as with the first round of sales it took 3 or 4 days before they started to get bids. I think if you have a good enough domain it can be a good idea to purchase the featured listing as it does lead to extra exposure with all your domains that you have for sale.
Hopefully over the next few days I can get a heap of domains as I only have 1 that will go into ’round 3′ next week where as I want at least 10 if not more!

Here we go again! O.k I’ve just finished uploading another 7 domains that I can hopefully flip for a profit. Included in this lot of auctions are 5 domains that I found using methods found in one of the ebooks I purchased and another 2 using my own methods. The total for these 7 domains have cost me under $60 so that will be around my break even point. Also included is the domain that I purchased last week and was waiting for it to be transferred and I’m hoping this one will get a few decent bids as it cost me a couple of dollars more than the other domains but it has a stack of links pointing towards it and it even has a PR (page rank) of 3. These are very good factors when selling (or buying) domains.
I’ve also decided to enhance my listing for one of my domains at a cost of around $10. I’m hoping the extra exposure to this domain will cascade down to the other domains I have listed. Apart from that I keep everything pretty basic and don’t purchase any of the other options that Ebay have to offer.
Time wise I’m still spending too long getting these auctions running and I mean in terms of ROI. I could probably use the same amount of time creating another affiliate site which probably would generate more income but that’s not what it is about at the moment so I’ll just stick with it. Half the problem is that I’m mucking around with Photoshop trying to create nice images for the auction but I probably don’t need to. In one way I don’t mind because I want to become better at using photoshop and it only helps to increase my skill base. Mind you I can pretty much do a nice domain logo in a couple of minutes now so I am getting better.
Didn’t find any good domains to purchase today but i did find one through my own methods and I’m going to spend the next 5 days seeing if I can get a stack more domains as I’m probably only going to have enough time to run 2-3 more auctions before the month and this experiment end.
At this stage I have purchased 14 domains since the start of the month so it looks like I could get to purchasing 50 domains for the month ……. damn that seems like an awful lot….better warn the Mrs about the impending credit card statement!!

Well I finally finished getting all my domains listed on Ebay yesterday but I forgot to mention that I hadn’t used Ebay to sell anything in a good couple of years and man how things have changed! I spend a good few hours trying to get my first auction up and running and it was rather frustrating. Eventually I got it done and from there on in it only took an average of 5-10 minutes to get each auction up and running.
Another small problem I ran into was with a domain that I purchased, it was an expired domain with good links and a page rank of 3 ,but after purchasing it didn’t show in my account. I contacted support and was told that it should automatically transfer within 2 WEEKS! That’s a bit of a bummer as I wanted to get it sold ASAP after all that’s what flipping is all about but it looks like I will have to wait until it shows up in my account.
Checked for some more domains today but found nothing that took my fancy but I’ll keep on looking!

Domain Flipping

O.k so after a few hours of reading last night trying to get up on this domain flipping gig I’m thinking I’ve got it kind of figured out. I got a hold of 3 different domain flipping products and basically devoured them over a few hours. So today I thought I had better put into practise what I had learnt. The good thing about reading 3 different manuals means I can take pieces from each to make my own idea or format to go ahead with while in the same time making sure not to stray to far from what the ebooks I read suggested.
So basically I got up this morning and started the first step on my domain flipping journey. Using a site suggested in one of the ebooks I managed to get a list of domains that had expired and past a 5 day holding period. I’ve found out that the 5 day holding period is for the registrars so they can see if there is a sizeable amount of traffic going to a particular deleted domain so they can have first bite and register it, if not they just let it go and us mere mortals can have a go.
Now as I mention I downloaded this list which had a staggering 50 000+ domains and I had to weed through it to try and find a few diamonds in the rough! Luckily one of the ebooks suggested some free filtering software which I could download and use to weed out the list. After having downloaded and run the software I was left with a list of 3000 which is still a fair amount of domains to look through. Again the ebooks came in handy as they suggested a site where I could check 500 domains at a time to see if they were available for registration.
After going through this list I was left 6 domains that I thought I might be able to make a buck or two on. One of the ebooks also suggested a site where I might find some good domains so I took a look there and managed to find1 domain. So in total today I have registered 7 brand new domains at a cost of around $60US so I’m in the RED already!
Now the next part is selling them and of course I’m going to try and offload them on the worlds biggest marketplace, Ebay. Now using some of the suggestions in the book I’ve managed to list 4 of my domains for sale already and I will upload another 3 auctions after I have finished this post.
These auctions are listed for 5 days which is good as I will be able to fix up this blog like I intended and get some more content up. I think the auctions are due to finish next week on Wednesday so I will hopefully posting back then with some positive information.
In the meantime I’m going to keep searching for domains and posting here if I think I find any good ones, I think my credit card is in for a rough ride this month!
Any comments are welcome!
