Domain Flipping

Well just a quick update, theres about 8 hours left and 11 of 12 domains that are up for grabs will definatley sell . There are another 2 domains which end in 18 hours (for a total of 14 domains) and 1 of them will definatley sell. I’m still unsure at this stage if I will make a profit on this lot of domains but usually the bidding starts to heat up in the last hour or two so I might stay up a bit later tonight (auctions end around midnight my time) to see how well the auctions do.
So here’s crossing my fingers and hoping some people with more money than sense come along in the next few hours and make big bids on the domains!
I will post an update after the last domain sells (in 18 hours) with a round up of how things went and if I actually did manage to make money online for this month!

What do you get when you combine a 10 hour a day job, a love of basketball and 4-5 hours sleep a night? You get buggar all done and basically that’s why I haven’t done as much as planned this week. You see at my current job I have to get up at 5.00am and then I don’t get home until around 4.00pm. This makes for a very long day and then when you have to run around after the rest of the family it’s often not until after 5.00pm that I get to set down and relax. After sitting down for a while and checking all my other online projects it’s time to make tea so off I go.
Now I don’t mind this at all but when you combine my love of basketball and the NBA playoffs which don’t finish until after 12.00am you end up with sleep deprevation which just acculmulated and that was very much the case this week. I was just too tired to do anything with the domain auctions this week and that’s basically that’s why there was no midweek update……I was just plain knackered!
Now this has put me back somewhat but what I planned to do was to upload the last round of domains and then end the auction in a couple of days before the month ended, unfortunatley I’m still in a bit of a sleepy haze and although I did upload all the domains I was using a template and I didn’t realise until the last domain had been uploaded that I actually made them all 5 day auctions, so this means the auctions aren’t quite going to end in the month of May but that’s o.k it’s close enough.
So now I have 13 domains up for grabs and I might add another couple tomorrow. I’m still waiting for the PR3 domain that I purchased to be transferred to my account and if it does within the next couple of days then I’ll list it.
No idea how much I will make this round but I hope it’s at the very least a profit of some sorts. Once this lot of domains sell I will add up everything and see what the final figures are for the month
It’s late now so I’m off to bed but I’m still catching up on sleep so I’ll post again tomorrow once I get my head screwed on properly.
Peace!…………or sleep zzzzzzzzzzzz

Not much happening on the domain scene over the last couple of days. The auctions that I have running are getting some attention and at the moment 4 of the 7 domains will sell for sure, it’s just that I don’t know how much of a profit there is going to be if any! I’m pretty sure at least one of the domains will sell for a decent price as it’s already attracted a few bids ( and by decent price I mean it will at least break even!).
I’ve only managed to get a couple of domains for the next round so far so I better get hunting. I’m sure that there are a ton of people doing this now because there were a heck of a lot more domains to choose from when I first started but the domains simply aren’t there any more.
The best thing about this is that it’s pretty easy to do. In fact I might get my son or daughter to do this for the last round of domains to see if they can come up with any money making domains and in fact while I move on to a new idea next month, they might continue on with this and I’ll split the profits with them (sounds like a good idea to me!)

Auction day yet again and initially I thought I wasn’t going to do very well this round as up until this morning only 3 of the 7 domains had bids on them and the 3 bids that were on it were below cost price. This included the page rank 3 domain I puchased but I was still really confident that I would make money on that one.
One slight mistake I made was to end these auctions while I was at work and being in the factory (remember I just an average Joe) meant I had no access to the internet. While it’s not overly important to be there when the auctions end it would have been fun to watch if anything was happening.
Another little downer was that one of the auctions from the first round still has not been paid for but luckily it was the one that sold for less than the purchase price anyway so it’s not so bad.
The Results?
Well after scrambling home to see what had happened with my auctions l was happy to find that all 7 had indeed sold and as with round 1, only one of them had sold for less that purchase price so I was moderately happy with that.
Did I Make Money?
Well my domain costs for this round was around $50 for the 7 domains and I ended up…………more than TRIPLING my money! So while last round was good, this week was even better. The Page Rank 3 domain I purchased ended up selling for more than 8 times what I paid for it while another domain sold for 5 times what I paid for it and another twice what I paid for it so all in all most of the profits came from these 3 domains.
At the moment I’m in a bit of a quandry with what to do next round. At this moment in time there are a stack of people doing the same thing ( I suspect due to them purchasing the same guide as I did) that I am which means there is an oversupply of domains at the moment up for auction so I’m just wondering whether I should miss the next round and grab some more domains and have a real big domain flipping round 4 or should I just go ahead and try and flip the domains that I have purchased over the last week. At this point in time I have only got 5 domains that I can flip so I might miss a week and just concentrate on getting more domains.
That’s if for now, I’m off to scan the ususal places to see if I can find any potential domains and then I’ll think about whether or not to put some auctions up next week.
On another note I’m trying to decide when method I’m going to try to make money next week with, I’ve got a couple of ideas in my head but I’m not sure which one to pursue . I’m pretty confident which ever idea I choose I will make money but I’ve just got to decide which one to try!

Here we go again! O.k I’ve just finished uploading another 7 domains that I can hopefully flip for a profit. Included in this lot of auctions are 5 domains that I found using methods found in one of the ebooks I purchased and another 2 using my own methods. The total for these 7 domains have cost me under $60 so that will be around my break even point. Also included is the domain that I purchased last week and was waiting for it to be transferred and I’m hoping this one will get a few decent bids as it cost me a couple of dollars more than the other domains but it has a stack of links pointing towards it and it even has a PR (page rank) of 3. These are very good factors when selling (or buying) domains.
I’ve also decided to enhance my listing for one of my domains at a cost of around $10. I’m hoping the extra exposure to this domain will cascade down to the other domains I have listed. Apart from that I keep everything pretty basic and don’t purchase any of the other options that Ebay have to offer.
Time wise I’m still spending too long getting these auctions running and I mean in terms of ROI. I could probably use the same amount of time creating another affiliate site which probably would generate more income but that’s not what it is about at the moment so I’ll just stick with it. Half the problem is that I’m mucking around with Photoshop trying to create nice images for the auction but I probably don’t need to. In one way I don’t mind because I want to become better at using photoshop and it only helps to increase my skill base. Mind you I can pretty much do a nice domain logo in a couple of minutes now so I am getting better.
Didn’t find any good domains to purchase today but i did find one through my own methods and I’m going to spend the next 5 days seeing if I can get a stack more domains as I’m probably only going to have enough time to run 2-3 more auctions before the month and this experiment end.
At this stage I have purchased 14 domains since the start of the month so it looks like I could get to purchasing 50 domains for the month ……. damn that seems like an awful lot….better warn the Mrs about the impending credit card statement!!

Well it all seemed to happen pretty quick, at first there were only 2 bids on the 6 domains but by the time the last auction had finished I had sold all 6 and only one of them was sold for less than the purchase price so I was really stoked with that. In fact after all was said in done I had DOUBLED MY MONEY!!
So I’m quite surprised and really happy with that effort and it’s inspired me even more so I will be launching a few more auctions tonight so they finish around the same time next week. In between I will be hunting down a few more domains and hopefully a few more bargains. At the end of this month I will release the week by week profit/loss for people to see.
With my next lot of auctions I’m going to try and systemise everything to make putting the auctions up faster so I spend less time doing it. With the first lot of auctions I spent quite a few hours setting everything up and re-familiarising myself with Ebay. I plan to make a nice template for my next lof of auctions and maybe even try a few designs things with photoshop to make it more appealing (I’m really a newbie at photoshop) which hopefully leads to higher bids.
On a sour note I’m still waiting for a domain that I purchased a week ago to be transferred to my account but hopefully it will be transferred soon. Anyway I’m off now to look for some more domains so I can hopefully make some more cash!

Well today is auction day for the domains that I purchased last week and at the moment there is not a lot to report. I’m kind of anxious because out of the 6 domains only 2 have any bids on them so as I write this post I’m looking at a loss which isn’t the plan to say the least!
I’m well aware how ever that things can quickly change so I’m hoping there are some lurkers who are waiting until the last second to make some bids.
At the moment I still have another 5 domains which I will have to set up tomorrow or the next day for sale but once I get this lot of 6 out of the way I will have some idea on what I can do to make the domains more appealing so I can hopefully make money (or even break even would be nice at this stage!)
Will report back tomorrow with results!!

While I don’t plan to update this blog everyday I had a bit of spare time so I thought I would. At the moment I think I’m the only person who has even looked at my auctions but I’m sure the closer they get to their end time the more eyes will see it and they will hopefully bid. I am confident however that they will get bids considering all the other rubbish domains I see getting bid on.
Qutie a few people seem to be trying the same method I am at the moment which actually sparked another idea which I will probably try out. I’ve checked the usual places for domains today and didn’t find anything of use. One thing which is quite apparent is that their are huge numbers of crap domains out there. Domains that are completely non sensical, I’m not even sure how people come up with such crap domains!

O.k so after a few hours of reading last night trying to get up on this domain flipping gig I’m thinking I’ve got it kind of figured out. I got a hold of 3 different domain flipping products and basically devoured them over a few hours. So today I thought I had better put into practise what I had learnt. The good thing about reading 3 different manuals means I can take pieces from each to make my own idea or format to go ahead with while in the same time making sure not to stray to far from what the ebooks I read suggested.
So basically I got up this morning and started the first step on my domain flipping journey. Using a site suggested in one of the ebooks I managed to get a list of domains that had expired and past a 5 day holding period. I’ve found out that the 5 day holding period is for the registrars so they can see if there is a sizeable amount of traffic going to a particular deleted domain so they can have first bite and register it, if not they just let it go and us mere mortals can have a go.
Now as I mention I downloaded this list which had a staggering 50 000+ domains and I had to weed through it to try and find a few diamonds in the rough! Luckily one of the ebooks suggested some free filtering software which I could download and use to weed out the list. After having downloaded and run the software I was left with a list of 3000 which is still a fair amount of domains to look through. Again the ebooks came in handy as they suggested a site where I could check 500 domains at a time to see if they were available for registration.
After going through this list I was left 6 domains that I thought I might be able to make a buck or two on. One of the ebooks also suggested a site where I might find some good domains so I took a look there and managed to find1 domain. So in total today I have registered 7 brand new domains at a cost of around $60US so I’m in the RED already!
Now the next part is selling them and of course I’m going to try and offload them on the worlds biggest marketplace, Ebay. Now using some of the suggestions in the book I’ve managed to list 4 of my domains for sale already and I will upload another 3 auctions after I have finished this post.
These auctions are listed for 5 days which is good as I will be able to fix up this blog like I intended and get some more content up. I think the auctions are due to finish next week on Wednesday so I will hopefully posting back then with some positive information.
In the meantime I’m going to keep searching for domains and posting here if I think I find any good ones, I think my credit card is in for a rough ride this month!
Any comments are welcome!
