Domain Flipping

Well I’ve decided to run another round of domains to be flipped instead of waiting a week to accumulate some more domains. I have about 8 ready to go and I might pick up another one tonight which will also go into next weeks domain flipping auctions.
This round of domains will be quite interesting, while I don’t think alot if any of them will sell for a huge markup I have managed to get a few bargains so it won’t take much to turn a profit it the whole point of this blog is to try and make money online full stop, not try and make huge amounts of money online (although I would be happy if I did).
So I will list these domains for sale tonight so this time they will finish at a more appropriate time when I’m home sitting in front of the computer. Actually as I am writing this I just got another domain so I’ll have a few auctions on the go next week. I’ll just start making some domain logos now for my auction so they look more professional.
At this time I have one domain from round 1 that still hasn’t been paid for so I am going to relist that auction as well, I also have another domain from round 2 that hasn’t been paid for yet but that was only a couple of days ago so I’ll give them another day before I contemplate relisting that one as well.
Part of the reason I made this blog was to help everyday people make a bit of extra cash so they could treat themselves to a family night out one a month or something but for me any money that I make on this site goes towards my new digital camera that I purchased about a month ago.

Part of me brokering the deal with the Mrs was that I wasn’t allowed to use any of my regular internet income to help pay for the camera so I had to think of other ways to pay it off so I made this site and I’ll make another affiliate site shortly so I can pay the camera off and move on to another goal that I now have.
My father is having his 70th next year and my sister just informed me that there are stacks of people coming to it so now I have to come up with at least $4000-6000 between now and the birthday to help pay for it all but realistically I think it will be pretty easy so I’m not too worried.
Better get busy making some money I think!
Actually one good thing I forgot to mention is that because I’ve made money from the first round of auctions every domain I have purchased has been self sufficient, meaning that I’m using the profits from the auction flipping to pay for any new domains that I purchase which is good because it means that there is not going to be a big ugly credit card statement like I intially thought and the Mrs won’t be chasing after me with a stick!

Here we go again! O.k I’ve just finished uploading another 7 domains that I can hopefully flip for a profit. Included in this lot of auctions are 5 domains that I found using methods found in one of the ebooks I purchased and another 2 using my own methods. The total for these 7 domains have cost me under $60 so that will be around my break even point. Also included is the domain that I purchased last week and was waiting for it to be transferred and I’m hoping this one will get a few decent bids as it cost me a couple of dollars more than the other domains but it has a stack of links pointing towards it and it even has a PR (page rank) of 3. These are very good factors when selling (or buying) domains.
I’ve also decided to enhance my listing for one of my domains at a cost of around $10. I’m hoping the extra exposure to this domain will cascade down to the other domains I have listed. Apart from that I keep everything pretty basic and don’t purchase any of the other options that Ebay have to offer.
Time wise I’m still spending too long getting these auctions running and I mean in terms of ROI. I could probably use the same amount of time creating another affiliate site which probably would generate more income but that’s not what it is about at the moment so I’ll just stick with it. Half the problem is that I’m mucking around with Photoshop trying to create nice images for the auction but I probably don’t need to. In one way I don’t mind because I want to become better at using photoshop and it only helps to increase my skill base. Mind you I can pretty much do a nice domain logo in a couple of minutes now so I am getting better.
Didn’t find any good domains to purchase today but i did find one through my own methods and I’m going to spend the next 5 days seeing if I can get a stack more domains as I’m probably only going to have enough time to run 2-3 more auctions before the month and this experiment end.
At this stage I have purchased 14 domains since the start of the month so it looks like I could get to purchasing 50 domains for the month ……. damn that seems like an awful lot….better warn the Mrs about the impending credit card statement!!

Domain Flipping

O.k so after a few hours of reading last night trying to get up on this domain flipping gig I’m thinking I’ve got it kind of figured out. I got a hold of 3 different domain flipping products and basically devoured them over a few hours. So today I thought I had better put into practise what I had learnt. The good thing about reading 3 different manuals means I can take pieces from each to make my own idea or format to go ahead with while in the same time making sure not to stray to far from what the ebooks I read suggested.
So basically I got up this morning and started the first step on my domain flipping journey. Using a site suggested in one of the ebooks I managed to get a list of domains that had expired and past a 5 day holding period. I’ve found out that the 5 day holding period is for the registrars so they can see if there is a sizeable amount of traffic going to a particular deleted domain so they can have first bite and register it, if not they just let it go and us mere mortals can have a go.
Now as I mention I downloaded this list which had a staggering 50 000+ domains and I had to weed through it to try and find a few diamonds in the rough! Luckily one of the ebooks suggested some free filtering software which I could download and use to weed out the list. After having downloaded and run the software I was left with a list of 3000 which is still a fair amount of domains to look through. Again the ebooks came in handy as they suggested a site where I could check 500 domains at a time to see if they were available for registration.
After going through this list I was left 6 domains that I thought I might be able to make a buck or two on. One of the ebooks also suggested a site where I might find some good domains so I took a look there and managed to find1 domain. So in total today I have registered 7 brand new domains at a cost of around $60US so I’m in the RED already!
Now the next part is selling them and of course I’m going to try and offload them on the worlds biggest marketplace, Ebay. Now using some of the suggestions in the book I’ve managed to list 4 of my domains for sale already and I will upload another 3 auctions after I have finished this post.
These auctions are listed for 5 days which is good as I will be able to fix up this blog like I intended and get some more content up. I think the auctions are due to finish next week on Wednesday so I will hopefully posting back then with some positive information.
In the meantime I’m going to keep searching for domains and posting here if I think I find any good ones, I think my credit card is in for a rough ride this month!
Any comments are welcome!
